Florida Prospers, a non-connected Political Action Committee (PAC)
The party organizations are not agile. They are mired by statutory structure. The local parties are governed literally and figuratively by their respective State party organizations. Florida Prospers fills a niche in North Florida for political organizations because North Florida is politically underserved compared to Central or South Florida. Florida Prospers will provide an alternative political voice to the two parties.
Florida Prospers is agile and will act instead of react to:
- provide leadership if a local void exists and focus in primary elections where parties cannot.
- shape political discourse by providing a voice for Floridians between election cycles.
- identify and support candidates who campaign on solutions.
- support organizations that promote solutions rather than partisanship.
About the Founders

Jay McGovern, a candidate for Congress in Florida's 4th District in 2008, is an engineer, small businessman and United States Naval Academy graduate. A Navy helicopter pilot and four-time Commanding Officer he was promoted to Captain in 2005. He holds a patent on a plastics recycling process and operates a horse farm in Western Duval County. Jay McGovern brings to "Florida Prospers" a strong work ethic, practical experience and recognized excellence in professional judgment.
Our Executive Director:
Jim Minion, a candidate for Jacksonville City Council in 2007, is a small business owner in Jacksonville. Jim has been involved at every level of civic engagement in North Florida for the past decade. Jim brings a grassroots level understanding of politics and a focus on building relationships among citizen constituencies in Florida.
